Where?

Hengrove Classes

Mondays & Wednesdays
5.00 – 6.00pm children’s class
6.10 – 7.25pm adult class

Hengrove Park Leisure Centre,
The Boulevard, Hengrove Park, Bristol BS14 0JZ

Hengrove is our longest running club, started up in 1993, and we still have some of our original members training! The club has many very experienced black belts who are very keen and highly skilled at passing on their considerable knowledge to all.

We train on two badminton courts in the main sports hall, which gives us plenty of space with an airy feel and a good floor (important when you’re in bare feet!). The Hengrove club trains hard, but still has a very friendly and approachable atmosphere.

How to get there

We train in the main sports hall – there is a barrier entry system operated in the centre – please approach the closed barrier and ask a receptionist to let you through for the TaeKwon-Do class! Note: There is a viewing area for the sports hall, with tables and chairs. There is also a large cafe on site.

Parking: There is a multi storey car park directly opposite the leisure centre. Enter your vehicle’s number into one of the terminals when you enter the centre to get three hours free parking.

Premium & Express Bus Routes

  • The m1 metrobus: This is the most efficient link if you are coming from Bristol City Centre, Broadmead, Bedminster, or UWE Frenchay. The m1 runs directly into the Hengrove Park transport hub right next to the leisure centre and operates with high frequency seven days a week.
  • The A4 Air Decker: If you are travelling from Bath, Keynsham, or Bristol Airport, this direct service stops at the Hengrove Leisure Park stop, which sits immediately adjacent to the leisure centre.
  • Standard Local Bus Routes: The 75 and 76 Services – These high-frequency First Bus routes run all the way from Cribbs Causeway and North Bristol through the City Centre, dropping off directly at the Hengrove Bus Depot / Leisure Park loops.
  • The 16, 36, and 45 Services: These provide east-to-south links across Bristol (such as Whitchurch, St Anne’s, and Brislington) directly into Hengrove Park.
  • Rail to Bus Connections: Bristol Temple Meads – If arriving by train, take the line 73 bus or a direct local link from the station forecourt straight to Hengrove Park, which takes roughly 22 minutes.

Ashton Park Classes

Tuesdays & Fridays
6:10 – 7.30pm
Children 11 and over and all adults

These take place in the school hall at Ashton Park School, Blackmoors Lane, Bower Ashton, Bristol BS3 2JL

Ashton Park is the newest of our clubs – it started up in 2002 at the Southville Centre, moving recently to the Ashton Park school, and has grown to be one of our largest and most popular clubs. The club has a really good mix of men and women (and boys and girls!), plus a good age range, and now has a number of it’s own ‘home grown’ black belts as well as those who visit regularly from the other clubs. Located in a young and vibrant community, the Ashton Park club definitely has our most active social scene, with regular after training ‘get togethers’ (that’s one way of describing them anyway!). We’re a very friendly bunch and we love welcoming new beginners into the club.

How to get there

We train in the main school hall (NOT the leisure centre!). Please enter through the external doors directly into the hall – do not try to go through the main school entrance which is likely to be closed (see photo).

Parking – There is free parking on site – either in the main car park (on the right after you enter the school), or turn left immediately upon entering the school and drive under the trees. You can park here or continue further and park in front of the hall we train in.

Primary Bus Routes:

  • The X1, X4, X6, X7, X8, and X9 services run frequently from Bristol City Centre (The Centre) towards North Somerset. They stop at the Bower Ashton (Clanage Road) bus stop, which is located just a 3 to 5-minute walk from the school entrance.
  • The 71 service: This route provides direct access from areas like Filton, Horfield, and Clifton, stopping right near the Ashton Gate area, leaving you with a short 10-minute walk to the school.

Rail Connection – Parson Street Railway Station: This is the closest train station, located about a 20 to 25-minute walk from the school. You can catch local Great Western Railway services here from Bristol Temple Meads.

Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre,
Fiddlers Wood Lane, Bradley Stoke Bristol BS32 9BS

The Bradley Stoke club originally started in Thornbury in 1989, moving to the Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre when it first opened. A very friendly and hardworking club, it benefits from having students from all walks of life. We have quite a lot of black belts – some quite senior in grade, who enjoy both training and helping to teach within the club. We train in the main sports hall, giving us a huge amount of space to let off steam! The Bradley Stoke club regularly does well at competitions – in the past even producing two World Champions!

How to get there

We train in the main sports hall (no barrier system to enter).

Car Parking: The centre has its own large free car park. Note: there is also a cafe on site, but currently no water refill station – students should bring plenty of their own!

Rapid & Local Bus Routes:

  • The m1 metrobus – This is your fastest option from Bristol City Centre, Bedminster, or Hengrove. It drops you off at the Willow Brook Centre stop, which is a flat 3-minute walk from the leisure centre entrance.
  • The 73 Service: Operated by First Bus, this route links Bristol Temple Meads, Filton, and Patchway directly to Bradley Stoke, stopping right outside the leisure centre on Fiddlers Wood Lane.
  • The M4 metrobus: If traveling from Cribbs Causeway or Bristol Parkway Station, this service provides a quick link to the nearby Willow Brook interchange.

Rail Connections: Bristol Parkway Railway Station – This is the closest train station. From here, you can seamlessly catch the M4 metrobus or the 73 bus directly to the leisure centre, a transit journey of roughly 10 minutes.
